Dear Laura,

You have been out on the bleeding edge watching so many earnest people chase their highly imaginative dreams based on what seems to be reasonable expectations most often based on prior experimental results. One might ask, “Are our hypotheses based on observations, reification, and/or hypostatizations?” Can we make it real if we work at it long enough? …if we stare at all our ducks-in-a-row long enough will they come alive?

Such attitudes and thoughts may actually be a result of a societal autism. We have made so many speculative realities a reality, it is easy to become confused.

So, what are the basic building blocks of 1) logic, 2) thought, 3) systems theory, and 4) a good working scientific theory? Are those numbers calculated by Max Planck (1899), and earlier by George Johnstone Stoney (1874), largely based on dimensionless constants, the foundations of the foundations?

I am in discussions with some young scholars about that issue right now! Yet, I trust your instincts more. You have been imbued with the orthodoxy but you don’t live or die because you affirm it one way or another. Your comments would be most valued. Thanks.

Warmly,

Bruce

Editor’s note: We began following Laura’s work back on November 25, 2018 when this page was first created. Pages often remain private for many years; essentially these pages are just a collection of notes, comments, and references. People like Laura, professional science writers, are a little like Oprah Winfrey. They can open up the questions that lead to more questions that finally that leads to a real discussion about belief systems. Yes, Laura is such a thinker and a writer. -BEC
