Dear Kelly Kizer Whitt:
(Initially through Twitter): Thank you for the clarity of your writing. You cover a lot of ground quickly within “Bright, early galaxies surprise astronomers,” Earth-Sky (November 18, 2022). In light of the discrepancies, it seems that it might be time for big bang cosmology and the Lambda CDM to part ways. There is more strength and agility within the LambdaCDM than the big bang. There is also a very simple alternative; I’ve opened that effort here: https://81018.com/butterworth/
Of course, a natural inflation from the Planck base units may appear even more idiosyncratic for some, the actual numbers tell a rather good story. The baggage that comes along with it is a bit heavy, but I suspect there will be many creatives who will find better work-arounds than me! It really is an under-examined possibility.
Thanks.
Warmly,
Bruce
PS: Nobody thought there could be “so much space and time” between those Planck base units and our particles, and between the start of the universe and the first second (just over 143 notations out of 202).
Our learning curve also included learning how special a year can be; it help put things into perspective: https://81018.com/universeclock/
Also, because of what you do, I have started our own page about your work so we can update our understanding of it and possibly write another note to you: https://81018.com/whitt/ Thanks again for all that you do. Amazing. -BEC
