RE: Your work to conceive and implement the JWST! Your CV (PDF) give a glimpse of your preparations and articles like “Galaxies at High Redshift,” Astrophysics and Space Science 269, 165–181 (1999) give a glimpse of your thinking. Even your https://doi.org/10.1023/A:1017052809781 homepage is important. The world needs to know who developed the technology to lead us out of the dark ages of the big bang theory. We look forward to more ArXiv (280+) articles!

Within this website: “Garth Illingworth [3], an astrophysicist now at the University of California, Santa Cruz, was one of the people charged with designing the project. Justifiably proud, he knew at the outset that the JWST would be looking for the earliest galaxies.

Garth Illingworth is more than just an administrator; Garth Illingworth truly guided the JWST mission from get-go. He was constantly among those selling the concept to Congress and the public. He kept the vision alive. Many of his presentations are now encapsulated within YouTube. His 2023 (August 13), UCSC Galaxy Workshop, “JWST on a path towards realizing its first light goal”, is an excellent example as is this Spectroscopic overview.

Dear Prof. Dr. Garth Illingworth:

In your article, “NGST: The Early Days of JWST,” you said in 2022, “Nearly 30 years ago…”Is there a date associated with that event when Riccardo Giacconi, “…then the Institute Director, challenged Peter Stockman (Research Branch Head) and me…”

Also, you are one the key quotes within our JWST homepage: https://81018.com/jwst/

For each of the scholar/scientists that are quoted, I’ve created a reference page to remind me about that scholar’s work, plus a record of my emails, instant messages, and the like. My reference page to your work is here: https://81018.com/illingworth/

If there anything that does not sit well with you, please let me know. I am anxious to please and will respond immediately. Thank you.

Warmly,

Bruce
