Introduction: My studies of natural law started when Alan Dershowitz, a Harvard Law professor, said, “Human beings have no singular nature… We are creatures of accidental forces who have no preordained destiny or purpose” (from Rights from Wrongs: A Secular Theory of the Origins of Rights, Basic Books, 2005, page 31). That attitude, belief, and cause are part of the reason we have been reduced as a society to trial-and-error. I wrote to him and that note became the basic infrastructure for this article.

Instead we start with the most simple equation with the greatest diversity of applications. The most simple of those applications immediately inform us. Pi (π) renders spheres which have an inherent continuity (order), symmetry (relation), and harmony (dynamics). These are simple, basic facts of observations and measurements. Pi (π) is the first manifestation of a thing, a sphere, and it defines the first space-time moment that has an inherent continuity, symmetry and harmony. Based on Max Planck’s calculation of Planck Time, we quickly calculate that it generates infinitesimal spheres on the order of 18.5 tredecillion spheres per second. If base-2 notation is applied to parse that number, there are 143 base-2 notations to that first second. There are just 59 additional base-2 notations to the age of the universe, now calculated to be about 13.81 billion years.

It is instructive to examine these 202 notations more closely.

At Notation-64 the time is measured in yoctoseconds, one trillionth of a trillionth of a second. Hypothesized is that there is no time for imperfections. Here is a domain where all the geometries are perfectly fitting. Notation-1 actually defines the first moment of space-time. It is not a gimmick, but a way of grasping the basic ordering of the universe that is efficient, relational, holistic, instructive, and simple. And, because it starts with an inherent geometry that expands rapidly (cellular automaton), it has an implicit structure (form/function) that evolves within every notation. Here, time appears to be derivative of number and space derivative of geometry.

Bottom line, this construct first pushes out an inherent continuity/order, symmetry/relations, and harmony/dynamics that is wonderfully complex, but ostensibly simple. It also allows the freedom of its inverse. There are geometries that do not perfectly fill space and allow for motion which might be considered freedom, free will, and imperfection.

Geometry’s most simple expression of a gap is with five tetrahedrons (seven vertices) whereby there is a 7.3561031+ degree gap between the first and fifth tetrahedron. It is believed to be an imaginary number. That same gap is also created with five octahedrons. There are also gaps when the icosahedron is constructed with 20 tetrahedrons. The 12 external vertices (one internal) actually create a basis for imperfection, or degrees of freedom, or within science, quantum mechanics. Taken together, it seems we have the foundations or the beginnings of a natural law. We also have a definition of value and integrity.

It lets group theory, set theory, and systems theory evolve in natural ways from the Planck Length to the Observable Universe. By the 60th notation there are over a quintillion vertices for constructions. Fermions and protons do not show up until the 65th.

Please note: The links to that chart are the start of many, many pages of analysis. I hope you are interested. There will be more coming over the summer 2024. There will be much more about integrity and value. -bec

Natural law is also known as Jusnaturalism. Two key scholars are Immanuel Kant and Gottfried Leibniz.
