Dear Prof. Dr. Sigurður Helgason:

Thank you for your lifetime of work. We are attempting to learn too much too quickly yet our framework for learning is quite different and I am hoping that you might share your wisdom.

We found references to your books and articles through current searches of Lie groups. In our high school geometry classes — I was helping my nephew, the teacher, with models of the Platonic solids — we went inside the tetrahedron by dividing the edges in half and connecting those vertices. With half-sized tetras in each corner, we found the octahedron in the middle and proceeded to divide each of its edges in half. With six half-sized octas in each corner and the eight tetras, one in each face, all sharing the same center point, we could see how to tile and tessellate the universe.

We did it first by going further and further inside. In 45 notations we were within all the fermions and protons. In another 67 steps, we were down within the Planck scale. Next day we started doubling. That went quickly. By the 90th doubling we were out to about the Observable Universe.

We soon discovered Kees Boeke’s 1957 work with base-10. We liked our base-2 more. It was 3.333 times more granular; we had an imputed geometry, and we had the Planck Length! In 2014 we added Planck Time, then in 2015 we added the other base units.

What are doing? It is a very simple model of the universe, of course, but does it have anything to do with reality? We started studying cosmology on our off hours and decided we liked our model better than the big bang. It was more simple and more comprehensive at the same time! Now what do we do?

Obviously we need some professional mathematicians either to guide us or to turn us back to the straight and narrow!

Might you take a look? Are we onto something or just involved with specious thinking?

Thank you.

Most sincerely,
Bruce
