Introduction. The Exploratorium has been mentioned on several pages within this website as the first place in the world to formally celebrate Pi Day. Upon reading about the work of their CEO, Lindsay Bierman, and then of their Chief Learning Officer, Rod Semper, I understood why the museum was often listed among the top ten science museums of the world. My first email to Rod Semper follows. He is their resident physics professor and chief scientist.

Dear Dr. Rob Semper:
We unwittingly mapped the universe by following nested geometries of tetrahedrons and octahedron to the Planck scale. We were unwittingly doing base-2 exponential notation and we discovered just 202 doublings from the smallest to the largest possible measurements!
We thought we had stumbled onto a very good STEM project and wrote a little about it: https://81018.com/stem/
It all started when we did a Zeno like walk down inside the tetrahedron, dividing the edges by 2, connecting those new vertices, and climbing down inside the four smaller tetrahedrons and an octahedron within it. Long story short, in 45 steps we were within particle physics and 67 more steps within at the Planck natural units. We used Planck’s units to go back out and in 112 steps we were back in the classroom, but shockingly in another 90 steps we were out to the size and age of the universe: https://81018.com/chart/
It’s more than interesting; it’s hard to believe something so simple has not been brought to life.

Note: We will be going around the world to explore the best science museums and to see if any other students have discovered the 202 base-2 notations. We’ve been to the Exploratorium, the Natural History museum in New York City, Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC, Boston Science Museum ….
