RE: Four days older than me…

Dear Prof. Dr. Stuart Hameroff:

I did a little post about conscious being and, of course, spent some time thinking about you and your work within your center and with Roger Penrose. Are concepts more fundamental than numbers (mathematics)? There are four numbers that are irrational and fundamental and largely ignored. Of course, pi (π) is one of them; and though not ignored, it’s analysis has has gotten hung up in the circumference of a circle and the never-ending — more-than 200 trillion numbers. There are three qualitative expressions of pi that are rarely studied — continuity-symmetry-harmony, that are not finite so we have assumed infinite.

The other three irrationals also give us a sense of qualities of consciousness.

I have have associated it with the intrinsic geometries of the tetrahedron defined by the four hexagonal plates that are necessarily part of every octahedron (and tetrahedron and sphere.) It’s a bit much to take in as an hypothesis, but its elegance is compelling.

Your comments are invited.

I send a warm congratulations on all your work over the years. Just wonderful.

Warmly,

Bruce
