On following the work of Amanda Weltman

Amanda Weltman, University of Cape Town, South Africa

Homepage(s): Chameleon theory, IAS, Wikipedia. Her research is also on gravitational-wave astronomy and radio astronomy. At Columbia University with Justin.Khoury, they originated the concept of a chameleon particle. The GammeV group (PDF. Willam Wester) at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Batavia, Illinois picked up on that work. The chameleon model predicts that some photons should convert to chameleon particles and create a faint afterglow. The GammeV group is now preparing to test for chameleons in that “interesting range”, says Weltman.

Dear Prof. Dr. Amanda Weltman:

Congratulations on all your work and recognition around the world. I was introduced to your work from the work of Clare Burrage. I was trying to answer the question, “How many hypothetical particles have there been?” And, of those, “How many have been found and who is still actively searching?” I suspect most hypothetical particles cannot be found. They can only be hypothesized because they are in the domain between the Planck base units and much smaller than current particles. We unwittingly were applying base-2 notation from the Planck units. Roughly speaking, we hypothesized that Notations 1-10 are eidetic forms and Langlands Programs best approximates it. Notations 10-20 are the earliest structures (ousia) and string theories approximate these developments. 20-30 are the earliest substances whereby causal set theory, causal dynamical triangulation, supersymmetries, and loop quantum gravity engage. Notations 30-40 are an extension of these studies and the emergence of qualities. Then, notations 40-50 extend these studies further and relations are formed first within the particluar study and then between studies. Notations 50-60 further extend these studies to become field theories and hypothetical particles of every flavor and color. The spectral standard model opens.

It is what we call “a forced fit” just to see if anything sticks and something coheres. Quarks, fluctuations, and neutrinos emerge with Notations 60-64.

Perhaps it’s all nonsense, but at least it is a different model based on the Planck numbers, base-2, and exponential notation. In the history of inflation theories, I do not think there were any of our scholars who actually tracked fundamental units within an exponential notation. We happened to it because it was a geometry problem that we were trying to solve and in our naïveté, we discovered base-2 notation and Planck’s base units.

Crazy?!? It is. Especially given there are so many fundamental paradigm shifts — no big bang, all time is now, infinitesimal spheres that fill the universe; infinitesimal spheres that create gaps, movement, indeterminacy, and freedom and creativty… Shall I pursue it any further? I was 64 in 2011 when it dropped in my lap. I have too many gaps in my knowledge and it takes forever to take even step forward.

Thank you.

Most sincerely,

Bruce
