Lew was active at Boston University in the years 1972 until his death in 1979. He was often part of the gatherings for the Boston Colloquium for Philosophy of Science at Boston University and there were several occasions where we sat next to each other. In my preparations to visit CERN, he and Viki Weisskopf recommend me to John Bell.
