In 2007, physicist Garrett Lisi proposed the E8 as basis for a “theory of everything.” He attempted to fit all Standard Model particles plus gravity into its structure. While controversial, the geometric elegance was undeniable.
In our model: E8 might represent maximal geometric symmetry—the peak complexity before the breaking cascade begins. Rather than being the final theory (as Lisi proposed), E8 could be a transitional moment:
- Notation 24: SU(5) unifies strong, weak, electromagnetic
- Notation 32: E8 includes everything (possibly gravity?)
- Notation 35+: Breaking begins: E8 → E6 → SU(5) → SU(3)×SU(2)×U(1)
The number 8 appears throughout:
- Notation 3: 8 spheres (octahedron)
- Notation 8: 2⁸ = 256 ≈ 248 (E8 dimensions)
- SU(3): 8 gluons
- Octonions: 8-dimensional number system
Could E8 be the geometric completion of the 8-fold pattern, representing all possible ways the 7.356° gap manifests at this complexity?
